The greatest difficulty for many journalists in becoming a blogger is the conversational tone native to blogs. Journalists write like boring, humorless robots. Have you ever watched mainstream journalists try to be funny? They are almost universally terrible at it and overly reliant on bad puns. The only exception I can find is ABC Nightline’s Bill Weir, who is hilarious. Many pretentious reporters think journalism can’t be fun, can’t be snarky, can’t be entertaining and light-hearted and funny. They think “important” journalism has to be boring and staid and humorless.
